Dr. Kaundal grew up in Alexandria, Virginia, and is a graduate of the University of Virginia where she obtained a B.A. in Cognitive Science. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) for medical school and completed her residency training at the Chesterfield Family Medicine Residency Program, where she was Chief Resident during her second and third years of training.

Dr. Kaundal enjoys teaching and prior to joining Family Practice Associates, she worked with Chesterfield Family Practice as an Attending Physician. She worked in the hospital and clinic setting while teaching other resident physicians on the art of medicine. Dr. Kaundal continues to teach as an Assistant Professor with VCU’s School of Medicine. She teaches first and second year medical students the basics of history and physical exam skills as part of VCU’s Practice of Medicine course. Dr. Kaundal also periodically works as a Hospitalist at local hospitals in the Richmond community.

Dr. Kaundal is a member of the Performance Committee for Virginia Care Partners. She has served as a delegate for the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians at the National Conference of Constituency Leaders. She also participates in outreach events, volunteering at the yearly Remote Area Medical event in Wise, Virginia, as well as working with local elementary schools to provide children with sports physicals and roundtable discussions on the importance of healthy eating habits and exercise.

Dr. Kaundal chose Family Medicine because it allows her to see all types of patients, from the newborn period to the elderly population. She enjoys building relationships with patients and their families as part of her holistic approach to the practice of medicine. Her professional interests include chronic disease management and coordinating care for patients between hospitals, nursing homes and visits with other specialists.

Dr. Kaundal and her husband live in Midlothian area. In her spare time, Dr. Kaundal enjoys painting, is an avid fan of the New York Giants, and is always looking for a new restaurant recommendation in the Richmond area.
