Cory Denton, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with nine years of nursing experience. For the past six years, his nursing background has been in emergency medicine. Most recently, he worked with VCU’s Emergency Medicine department after previously working as a travel nurse at several rural hospitals in Iowa and Virginia. That experience shaped how he approaches primary care, with an emphasis on thorough evaluation, evidence-based management, creative solutions, and addressing problems early whenever possible.

Cory earned his Associate Degree in Nursing in 2019 and completed his Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner concentration in 2025. His clinical training included women’s health, primary care, pediatric care, pediatric urgent care, and family medicine under the guidance of Dr.Rishika Kaundal at Family Practice Associates of Chesterfield in the Fall of 2025.

Originally from Iowa, Cory has lived in several parts of the United States as well as two years living in Munich and Hanover Germany as a youth exchange ambassador with the Rotary Clubs’ Youth Exchange program. Before entering healthcare, he worked with the National Park Service on Appalachian Trail maintenance projects in New Jersey’s Delaware Water Gap and volunteered with multiple Remote Area Medical clinics.

Cory values practical treatment plans that fit each patient’s needs, patient education, and shared decision-making. Outside of work, he enjoys woodworking, kayaking and canoe trips, studying history and languages, and international travel.
